Howdy, everyone. This post probably doesn't belong here, but there are many knowledgeable people here that are sure to have the answer!

While searching the low 150MHz. band last night, I happened across what sounded similar to P25 traffic on 151.3400. The traffic level was intermittent at best, and it seems as though I was hearing several base stations as the signal level changed from transmission to transmission.

After entering the frequency into my BC796D, the scanner indeed confirmed it was P25 traffic, though the 796D only displayed the familiar LNK and DAT indicators - not P25 for voice.

My conclusion is that this _might_ be Iowa State Patrol's mobile data system. The FCC database shows several licenses for several locations on this frequency.

Anyone know anything further?

99.9% of the traffic on that frequency is indeed mobile data. SOMETIMES you may hear P-25 chit-chat on that frequency. It was a well-used unofficial "car" frequency when the repeaters were first rolled out. Now, not so much.
