Steve I think you are right. I am having the same problem here. Switching from NFM to FM fix it. This setting also can't be changed in the software, only on the radio

This sounds very ominous.

If the NFM setting is too narrow to properly pass digital signals without distortion, this may indicate another hardware problem and not something that can, or will be fixed with a firmware update..

You shouldn't have to select FM, with the wider 450KHz IF filter and reduced selectivity, to receive P25 and if you do, this will just cause more problems if you have several close spaced signals adjacent to your desired signal. Selecting 'FM' mode in a busy trunking band for example is asking for more trouble!

The final IF filter in the x36HP is a '50G' which should have a -6dB bandwidth of -+4.5Khz, so it should be well and truly wide enough to pass standard P25 Phase 1 or 2. There may be some other phase distortion creeping into the system from somewhere too.

The plot thickens..

Gee I just love when people get technical and I totally agree with your comments. This is what happens when you engineer a radio to cover ALL types of systems. Think about it - does an XTS or APX radio from Motorola have to decode EDACS?

I think were up to about 3000 firmware updates to fix things in a scanner that just came out!!!!!!
