Greetings to all,

I have a question which has been riding my mind ever since I saw that Icom has come out with the UT-122 board for the R-2500 radio and that the public safety version radios of Icom are P25 upgradeable with a simple board to be installed inside the radio.

Has anyone or can anyone confirm or deny if these boards can be installed lets say the IC-2200H mobile, IC-V82, or IC-91A???

I have not had a chance to get my hands on a IC-V82 or board, or the public safety version of the IC-V82 (I forget the model # right now.)

I would have to think that the board is nothing more then an audio path router in the radio as the same plug-in socket is used for DTMF decoding and such as well.

Anyone know or have thoughts in this matter please let me know and thanks in advance.

The digital boards should be for the Icom F70 and F80 radios. The V82 can use the UT-109, UT-110#1, the touch tone decoder, and the D-Star modules as far as I know. They seem to share modules with the F3GS/F4GS/F30GT/F40GT series of radios that have been discontinued in the US.

Yeah, after some investigation, the digital units for the V82 series are the D-Star stuff. The UT-118 is D-Star, the UT-114 is D-Star with encryption (not for USA?) The new F3061 series Land Mobile radios have the P25 options.

The APCO 25 board will not fit in the Amateur radios. It looks like it may if yoiu hack up the case but I was interested in doing so in a brand new radio. The board is slightly longer than the D-Star board.
