For the SDS100, is there any Global Filter setting that will help with some of the P25 simulcast distortion? Thanks in advance.

Everyones settings will be different based on the factors they are dealing with. Best to just play around. Search the Uniden forums, someone did a pretty extensive write up on all the filters.

What system and how is your signal?

Audio is distorted. MRRS MTA Ardsley, Dobbs Ferry. Other towns not so bad, Eastchester is OK. Remtronix 842B. After I tried other Global filter settings which didn't seem to make a difference and went back to normal, audio started clipping at the end for all transmissions. Had to reset user setting to clear that out.

Thanks

I have a bit of distortion on my SDS 200. I've tried going threw the different filters. I am using a vhf uhf antenna on the roof. I have 4 bars strength, but I;m thinking of putting a dedicated 8-900 mhz antenna. There is a lot of simulcast here. Some transmissions are clear and some a little distorted. I thought the SDS200 was supposed to react much better under these conditions than my Unitedb996P2. I'm a little disappointed after buying the SDS200. Maybe I'm overlooking something.....

By "distorted" do you mean over-modulated audio? If some towns sound better than others then the audio issue may be on the subscriber end, very little you as a scanner user can do to compensate for it. Perhaps try setting a negative volume offset on each affected talkgroup?

It sounds like a crackly speaker at times. Other times it's clear. It's not consistent at all. The same cruiser can call in for a car stop and sound clear, and when he calls in to the dispatcher to clear him, he can be distorted. I'm getting full bars for signal strength.

If its the same cruiser, meaning always car 54, then its something on his end.

Is it the actual same cruiser each time it happens?

No, It's not the same cruiser. I'm listening to Ma State Police (central Mass) simulcast in the 855's trunk system P25. I must be hearing everything off the tower probably 5 miles as the crow flies away. Everything comes in full bar strength. I hear a lot of crackling even with the many base stations, about 8 of them. Maybe it's to strong a signal?

Mass St Pd is an analog system in central Mass. No P25.

Depends what system he is on.

Massachusetts State Police
Motorola Type II SmartZone
The majority of Mass State Police traffic are on the two trunked systems.
Commonwealth Of Massachusetts Interoperable Radio System (CoMIRS)
Project 25 Phase II
The majority of Mass State Police traffic are on the two trunked systems.

There can be a distortion on the analog Smartzone. My 200 experienced it on counties old system which was Smartzone.

Eastern and central mass are on the smart zone system. Only western Mass is on CoMirs. I travel throughout the state daily.

I am not as knowledgeable with the new system as I was told I'm listening to the Worcester simulcast. Maybe all the calls I receive is from a Paxton tower. I have a lot of calls that sound like someone is talking in a tin can. I am ALMOST convinced that my 996P2 sounds better. I am only following central Mass SP, C-1 to C10.
