does the radio have all the latest CPU /dsp firmware updates?

Also, neccessary for the radio to TT properly. Go to Radio Shack and download the updates to the 96. They include the upgrade to CPQSK.

400 MHz systems require the entry of the correct trunking table information. They do not track "automatically" based on CC data like systems on 800 MHz. You need to find out the base frequency, offset, and step and program those in, too.

For the PRO-96, and within Win96:

Set the bank to use the "Multi table" option under "MOT 9600 CC". Click the "Extended Tables" button. Create an entry like:
CH Lo: 8192
CH Hi: 12287
Base Freq: 470.00000
Offset: 8192
Step: 6.250
