To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Our county moved to new P25 trucking unication G4 pagers today. Having trouble finding a way for it to alert on a Talkgroup ID using the P25T SubGroup Phase 1 and 2 tones. On the knob positions when Binding Feature is set to sub group feature and resest mode is Selective Manual Reset it triggers Tones & Vibrate. But on Channels where we want to open scan say punchpout and a primary channel they tell me that if I set binding to sub group feature it mutes that knob postion until tones are matched. Can you set a knob postion to listen to those two talkgroups and also alert with Tone and Vibrate all while channel is open and not muted? Need some help getting this fixed.

yes there is an option i believe when u are setting ur sub groups, there should be a check box that says “variable” which means and/or. meaning the pager will open with just voice traffic and or tones, i will check the programming when i get home and send screen shots if u don’t find it before then

Thank you. We found a checkbox called "alternatives" that seems to accomplish what we desire.

We use 2 tone paging over p25 and have each departments tones listed. It seems to work except on calls where they drop 5 two tone sets off and we are missing some of the alerts. Can anyone explain the Sub Group (Digital address) on the Group ID screen and if they might help us? Only seems to be an issue so far on the large tone sets.

Here is the way the know postion is currently setup. My one thought is to move the DC Primany talk channel down to the Non-Priority Talk Group List. I dont yet have a clear understanding on when this is scanning those 2 talk groups if both are in the top priority box and in the correct order could this be briefly switching off the Fire Punchout channel long enough to miss the tones on one the 4 departments on a large call? Have not had the issue on smaller 2 department runs. I do not know how the pager works in scanning those 2 talkgroups if Fire Punchout had current traffic would it be bounching off and checking that DC Primary channel.Screen 1.PNG

We have adjusted the setup to punchout in priority and the talk primary in the non priority section. Also checked the box next to mutil select call sampling as this is the closest box to the Priority Talk Group ID option and it seems so far the system doesn't jump to punchout in the priority box even when both have active traffic on them.
