After a while you will find it easier to understand than analog because the noise goes away and you get used to the digital voice.

I don't even think about it anymore unless I see a post like this.

You might have marginal signal strength. I use P25 and it sounds natural on both ends, like analog but cleaner. Sounds like the other person is right next to me. That's with a Motorola XTL5000 and a Kenwood NX-5800; default audio settings, simplex or repeater.

Analog - static when signal drops
DIGITAL - garbled when the signal drops.

Nature of the beast......
Dont forget that on digital signals, even strong ones, if there is near by interference it can cause signal degradation aka garbled audio as well.

I had to buy an SDS200 when the LEO's switched over P25 PII about 4 months ago...

Yeah, it's different to listen to when your used to analog. Sounds artificial.

I didn't like the way it sounded, so I ran the speaker out through a Heil PRAS,

then to a stereo amp & a pair of Polk Audio bookshelf speakers.

This way I can shape the sound so its clear.

I also use the Heil with my Flex 1500 SDR to pull stuff out of the mud ;-)
