...the USB-c will not insert all the way.. :-(
I thought these new cables were higher quality. They have been good for me so far. Can you tell if the cable issue is on the P25RX connector side or on the cable side?

I plugged it into my laptop and it inserted fine. I don't suspect the cable., I have two others, same.. plugs into laptop fine. barely into P25.

It is normal for the connector to plug in about half way from being flush with the anodized part. If you plug it in and there is no USB power or communication, then there is a connector issue. Please e-mail and I will issue a return label.

@epersson do you have another computer? I have a nice USB hub that completely died on me, and I have USB ports with the ASMedia chipset that have all been flaky. On the other hand, chipsets from Intel have been reliable. So have USB ports on a PCIe board with dedicated USB high quality chipsets. Quality, reliable USB ports, cables, and hubs have *all* been hard to find for many years, but there are good ones.

Hi Yes, tried two computers and three cables. Thanks though.

I got the flashing TG rapidly once too, giberish... Seemed to be when I would move the unit, or just touch it, it would stop scanning. Now, if I re-seated everything, restarted the app it would be fine again. Not sure if some sort of static discharge messes with it or something. I am very happy with it, and my unit the USB only sticks in halfway, but I have other electronics that do the same thing.

The USB connector sticking in half way on the Type-C side is 100% normal. That is how it should be. The binary data (gibberish) showing up in the console is the device receiving a binary packet without seeing the start-of-frame for the packet (could be voice data, IQ plot, etc). This could happen when you first start the software, etc. Normally, these binary packets are hidden from being displayed in the console. The issue of being sensitive to movement / static discharge is something I'm looking into.

-edit: From the sounds of it, the USB issue is very likely to be static-discharge causing the interface to move to a bad state. The solution is probably figuring out how to detect this and recover it in firmware. I don't think most people are having this issue, but some people have reported frequent issues with this. It is high priority now. I have some other high priority firmware issues I'm in the middle of right now and then I will move on to working on this.

FWIW, super prevalent when I was at my office, which is all carpeted. Up in my bonus room its all wood floors, and my unit is up on a dresser next to my laptop. No issues so far.

Thanks for looking into it Todd. I am probably going to sell my G4 to a coworker as I really have no reason to hold on to it now.

Mine isn’t seating. And not communicating no worries. It’ll be back home soon. I’ve ordered m-f USB adapters to leave plugged in. Eliminate the physical. Thanks. Great response and support!!!!

Todd,
Quick question off topic....when using a computer to monitor is there any preferred start up or shut down process?
No preferred start up process. It should work powering up hardware before or after starting the BTConfig software.
