• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

What is the "P25T Digital Address" column on tab D5? I'm trying to get Call Alerts working via a 7 digit P25 ID, I believe Unication calls this the "SUID". Is this just a standard P25 call alert that can be transmitted from a mobile or portable or certain consoles?

Also, is there any way to alert a group of pagers via P25 ID? I don't want to have to transmit 30 different call alerts to 30 different IDs any time I want to send a page. Do I just program all the pagers with the same 7 digit SUID? I can only add one SUID and I would like to page just groups of pagers without having to transmit more than one call alert.

How are the IDs set? Obviously the pager doesn't affiliate with the system. Can I just use any 7 digit number? Should I try to avoid IDs that are assigned to subscribers on the system?

I know from an indication standpoint, this shows when two or more talk groups are being patched.

So I have gotten this working. The SUID under Private Call is the P25 ID you want it to alert to. I transmit a Call Alert from an APX portable to the SUID of the pager and it alerts. You must enable the Call Alert Radio Service in tab D7 of the pager.

I am also working on this for a system I am deploying. Am I understanding correctly that if I assign the Unit ID in the private call area and then enable the call alert function, this will alert? Do I need to assign it in any zones or is is independent of whatever the unit is scanning as long as it is on the trunking system that will call it? I am assuming an individual call from another radio or console would light it off as well.

Yes, as long as it is bound to the talkgroups in your knob positions the pager will alert. The pager needs to be on the same site as the radio sending the call alert, but there does not have to be a radio affiliated with the ID of the pager. You want to transmit a call alert to the ID of the pager, not a private call.
