• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
Is it on ebay? New in the box?

There's a guy on ebay selling NIB 7100s. They're UHF LOW BAND. Avoid them. They have no feature
encryption options in them and are USELESS.

I'll look through my info and try to verify the band of that model number.

Yep, That's the one. I Guess I'm screwed now. For that price it was to good to be true.

Thank you for your help on this.

Here's what that auction DOESN'T show you:

DSC_0052.jpg

Notice how they CONVENIENTLY forget to post a pic of the PRODUCT ID LABEL, or ANY of its content!

If you haven't paid yet, DON'T PAY.

I'll be honest with you. I bought one. And I charged it back on my credit card when the company
refuses (to this point) to refund me. So I got my money back ANYWAY. I'll hang on to it until this
is resolved and they at least figure out that I'm not budging.

Their failure to post that label or the IMPORTANT information on it, in the auction, constitutes
intentional FRAUD. It's on the same level as selling a car and neglecting to mention that there's
no engine in it.

M/A-Com considers these radios to be STOLEN.

They are NOT ever going to get a valid feature string, per the man I spoke to at M/A-Com, and
M/A-Com has been made aware of the orgin of these radios. I told them EVERYTHING.

I'm not the only one on this forum that ended up buying one. But at least one other member DID
get his money back. It can be done.

The radios are STOLEN, according to M/A-Com. The seller says they're from lost or unclaimed freight
shipments. This makes their legal status very questionable at best.

As part of the dispute process, I clearly told the seller that to be fair and honest, they MUST include
a label photo of the radios (the label with the data on it) or posts ALL the information on that label,
including and especially the part where it says "UHF-L". Clearly they still choose not to do that,
and as they persist after having been warned, their activity is UNQUESTIONABLY FRAUDULENT.

Fraud is a FELONY.

It's very likely that they are eligible for legal action including arrest and prosecution for felony fraud.

Start the dispute process IMMEDIATELY.

Re-P7100

Thank you so much. I left a message on their voicemail to get back me about this. I will also send an email and see if they respond. I will contact my credit card company first thing on Wednesday morning and call paypal also. I can't believe people like that. I'll keep you updated on this.

I had a feeling something was up with this radio when I saw the radio not selling when other bidders had won it. I almost paid him $685.00 for this radio last week when he sent me a second chance price. I'm glade I didn't. But he still got $430.00 from me.

I live in Florida and all the agencies he are on 800MHz Edacs.

Thanks again for the heads up and info about this guy.

Dan
