Hello all - I read back a few pages and didn't see my issue discussed, so hoping someone can chime in. I'm receiving Devault (CHES02) will good signal and quality, also noting some activity on the analyzer. On scan, I'm receiving the system, getting data, and using ID Search, however I am not hearing any traffic or stopping on any talkgroups. Is this site fully active or do I have something set wrong? Using a SDS200. Thanks.

Devault is very active throughout the day. Mostly encrypted PSP, but also PGC and some PennDOT D5 now and then...also PUC and DEP have been active before. The site can be so busy sometimes that all four voice paths can be active simultaneously. That doesn't bode well since DOT D6 isn't even on the air, yet. Those PennDOT guys like to talk sometimes.

OK - thanks. I hear nothing however, not even encrypted garble. So people are hearing traffic? I wonder why I do not.....

Does the SDS200 block out the encrypted comms? I know the BCD436 blocks about 99% of them. Now and then, one appears. I usually only hear the other stuff because I record the site. I'm usually not around to hear the comms real time. Right now, clear traffic is few and far between.

Well, that's possible - I'm don't know if the SDS200 blocks audio from encrypted talkgroups - it may. (my old PSR800 used to sound a telephone "busy" signal instead of the garbled audio). I don't know if I ever noticed the 436 blocking encrypted audio, but again, it may.

So I took some time and locked on the system for a while to monitor. While watching the display I did note that occasionally there would be a very quick display of a TGID (I saw 10159 and 10161 just now) but the radio would rapidly return to search with no audio emitted. Is that was to expect when the radio is blocking the encrypted audio?

Yes, That is normal for the Unidens, It will just skip TG's that it determines are encrypted..

OK great - thanks. Then perhaps my radio is functioning properly! I'll just keep an ear out for some clear / non-encrypted audio!
Thanks everyone for the help!

all tg in the 10xxx range will be fully ENC.... those are the PSP talk-group range of ID's

All? I see Global Interop in that range and they are not listed as E in the DB. I have never heard those TGs active in my area (SE) so I can't confirm E or not. Thanks.

You are correct, the Global's are the exception to that generalization that was made.
Anybody can take the time and study the information, it's all there and has been since the system came online.
The 10078-10089/10096-10099 TG's have been monitored in the clear.

my bad, I forgot to exclude those Global TG....

but do not be surprised, when ENC is turned on for those TG's...

I am sure that the entire system will be fully ENC in the next few years.

Doubtful. AES is not cheap, and it's less expensive and easier to roll encryption out along with the initial purchase, programming, and distribution of subscribers. It would be extremely tough to justify the cost of $500 per radio for PennDOT to have a need for encryption, as an example. Also, although the PSP and other agencies are encrypted, part of the selling point of this system is interoperability with the counties and agencies (in-state and out-of-state) that already have P25 capable radios, which is where a lot of the global and PEMA talkgroups will come into play. To force encryption on those resources is to shut out a lot of agencies who don't have the funding for AES, defeating the purpose of interop on a statewide system.

Picking up a peer on site 111 that I can't find info on. It's listed as site 139 with a CC of 152.0675. I'm running Unitrunker, so that's about all it's showing me in the peers window

Are you able to pick up any other sites such as 18, 46, 71 ,72, 101, 112, or 133, that might also list site 111 as a neighbor and help triangulate the location?

Not having much luck with TIOG06. For about a week now it is showing as failed, Current.

Had a little bit better luck today with TIOG03. Monitoring from the Rte. 156 Welcome Center near Tioga, it would seem that TIOG03 is online. My Pro-106 showed an NAC of 94E. PRO96COM showed a 152.8925c and an alternate CC. But it was a weak signal and I couldn't get much more.

As for TIOG42, here is the data:

Per Pro-106 the NAC was 94D. Per PRO96COM: 04-1250 153.125c 04-2349 155.8725a

Sys ID 942
RFSS 001
Site ID 126
Tower Status Connected

And of course neighbors:

1.116 Connected, Current
1.117 Connected, Current
1.118 Connected, Current
1.123 Failed, Current
1.124 Connected, Current
1.125 Failed, Current

Just pulled into Mahanoy City. None of the frequencies listed in the wiki or the database have any CC signal BUT, site 139 is pretty much pegging me on 152.0675. I'm gonna take an educated guess that this is Mahanoy City and the others are no longer valid for that site name. So the info I have is:
Site: 001-139
NAC: 947
Callsign: None
Primary CC: 152.0525
Alternate CC: 152.0675

It's worth noting that the Alt CC is the active one and the Primary is the voice channel.

What are the control channel frequencies for the neighbor sites of TIOG42?
