I was at Pymatuning State Park (Jamestown) this week. The campground contact station has a new Multiband ground plane on the building. Just like the ones you see on PennDot Trucks but a ground plane. All of the maintenance vehicles still have the old 800 OpenSky antennas and a 1/4wave VHF antenna. They have been this way for years. The DCNR Law Enforcement Vehicles that I saw all have the new multiband antennas and a low profile VHF antenna. However there was no activity on the system from them. They were still using 151.445/159.225, but it looks like they are ready to go soon.

I have been watching for changes on the ranger vehicles at Presque Isle State Park in Erie. They have the 800 antennas and some have the VHF. I've seen no new antennas that I can tell. Can you describe the new multiband and low-profile VHF antennas you've seen or provide an image, so I know what to look for here?

I was at Presque Isle about 2 weeks ago and they do not have the new antennas for Starnet. In fact a couple of the law enforcement vehicles where missing antennas totally. I did see a lifeguard with a Harris HT so that certainly indicates that they are still on the OpenSky. Redbeard provided the pic of the new multiband antenna. The base station antenna is identical but there is a ground plane. Pymatuning is the first place I have seen the use of low profile VHF antennas. They are black and look like a short stack of pancakes. Point State Park has the new multiband antenna and a 1/4 wave vhf whip.

Update -- Wiki has 20xxx TG's and 262xxxx RID's as Warren County Public Safety, what's up with them having that much traffic on a site in south-central PA?

I caught some activity on this TG yesterday on Site 1.04. Warren Co info is not surprising on 1.04 since it covers the Harrisburg area (and routinely carried PSP Troop E traffic during the start of the rollout). I always figured it was because this is where the SRND offices are and there are radios there monitoring activity. But, Big Flat is surprising. I wonder if someone monitoring the Warren rollout from either SRND or CAC lives over that way? 411xxxx IDs are the radio techs from Capital Area Communications who is responsible for the radio installs for a lot of the project (including Warren County's rollout).

I really wish I could monitor 1.04 and 1.052 on a regular basis. With all the agency HQs in the area, those two sites probably yield a lot of data to help piece together the puzzle. Also, 1.053, 1.054 and 1.090.

Picking up the first signs of life from CHES96 Oxford, No CC yet but the frequencies are carrying some signals today..
Some sort of testing, not seeing a NAC or anything else yet...

Is it typical for comms to be multicast on both VHF and 800 MHz systems? I hear PGC on my local VHF repeater frequently. To see if there was any activity, I was listening to my local 800MHz repeater yesterday and heard the same PGC people on there. Thanks.

If you're asking about transmissions being carried on multiple sites, the answer is yes. All depends on the status of affiliations across sites for any given talkgroup.

Do we know which radios the various agencies are getting? I know the PSP units in the Philly area have dual or multi band APX portables. But what about PGC and DOT? Are they favoring single band? And if so, which band?...

So, anyone out there looking around to see if there is a site 48 or 67? I know 48 was FULT01 before they created the Fulton simulcast cell...just curious if they may have reused the site number elsewhere.

104 and 107 are also missing from the known site list.

Then we have 117-130 (14 sites pending).

It looks like there are 16 VHF sites to go in the northcentral area.

The Delco VHF site (FELHC) never came online. There are also some 800MHz frequencies licensed at CENT16. I wonder if the Delco site was going to be 67. There also appears to be an unused license at SCHU36 in the Mahanoy City area.
