why do the have pager frequencies? they are just numbers to call there is no voice that goes over them so why have pager frequencies? example 151.400000 HRM Fire Pager -2 I see theres several for hem fire and the hospital

Voice pagers pre-date alphanumeric pagers by number of years.

True beepers were just that. The unit made noise, and the user then called their service, and retrieved the waiting message. Probably the best known of these type was the Motorola Pageboy.
