Call them two losers of the criminal world.
Two men looking to make a quick score early Thursday morning spotted a 17-year-old exiting Eglinton West Subway, south of Allen Rd., around 1:15 a.m., grabbed him and brandished a knife, said Toronto police.
The teen might have been an easy target, but they failed to notice one significant detail: They launched their attack directly in front of a police station.
Whether they were really daring, or just plain dumb, the men – one wearing a bandana – demanded the teen's wallet right outside 13 Division headquarters.
"Would you commit a crime right in front of a police station?" asked Sgt. Scott Maywood.
"This has got to be one for stupid criminals."
Officers inside raced out of the building upon hearing the teen shouting "police."
They chased two men, catching up with them only a few hundred metres away.
They arrested the pair and recovered a cellphone.
The shaken-up teen realized he was experiencing back pains and discovered he'd been stabbed in the neck.
He was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
Nathaniel Pruitt, 21, of Brampton, and Barrington Samms, 19, of Toronto, have both been charged with robbery as well as assault with a weapon.
Samms is also charged with obstruction of a peace officer.
