GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- Grand Junction police say they're looking for several protesters who tried to stop the motorcade carrying Gov. Sarah Palin to a campaign rally in the city Monday.
Police said the protesters waited until police motorcycles passed them and then eight to 10 people rushed out in front of the other vehicles in the motorcade. Video of the incident shows the protesters, some of whom wore bandanas on their faces, blocking the path and holding up a large banner.
Several motorcycle officers stopped, turned around and grabbed the protesters and dragged them out of the way, Grand Junction police spokeswoman Kate Porras said. At least two demonstrators were tackled and forced to the ground before being pulled away. One officer fell backwards into the path of an approaching vehicle but he was able to get out of the way in time.
