Nj Pip Pd

Your scanner needs to be programmed to accomodate a step of 7.5 KHz (based upon my programming into a Uniden BC296D) in order to receive the freq. "on center." If it is off a bit (your case), it may still pick up the transmissions, but with some audio distortion. Some scanners will not allow you to program a certain step into the radio, since it is already preprogrammed to certain ones only (5 KHz, 25 KHz, etc.) Others will automatically adjust to what you are trying to enter into the radio.

Try 154.8900 for the NY Palisades PD side. I forgot what the PL is though.

My scanner The Bearcat 9000xlt and 950xlt, are only 5khz, 12.5khz, 25khz, 50khz. SO i guess I wont be able to hear the PIP in NJ. That other frequency is for the Parks on the PIP.

Your scanner will work fine on 155.4500 MHz. It is just older than the 7.5 kHz channel centers and will round to the closest increment the synthesizer can lock up on. That frequency is only 2.5 kHz off the PIP PD NJ frequency and (with a scanner, at least - they typically have wide passbands) you shouldn't hear a big difference.

Actually, that frequency is for the New York State Park Police, which operate out of Bear Mountain. Although the do occasionally stop cars on the PIP, they are not the primary acenciy and only patrol the state owned parks/land.

The NY side is patrolled by NYSP Troop F out of Haverstraw. Listen on 155.535 CSQ.

Monitoring on the NY side is a bit more complicated then on the NJ side

...for base-to-car transmissions and on 154.935 for car-to-base transmissions. In addition:

- Car-to-car traffic is passed on 154.665 (110.9)
- Alarms are broadcast on 154.695 (also used as an alternate car-to-base channel), and
- SP Haverstraw units make extensive use of Rockland's "County" channel (154.725R, 151.4) for data checks.
