Palmetto 800 change?

Has something changed on the Palmetto 800? I'm not receiving anything on the Palmetto Center tower, but I can picked up the Lexington simulcast just fine. Was working just fine the other day.

Or is it just me?

A quick question!! Do you live lower than the rest of the land around you? If you do then this will have an effect on how your scanner works. I live in a very rural county, with hills everywhere. If I am not usually in one spot all the time I have a hard time hearing anything on my scanner. Some frequencies and talkgroups may come in better than others. That is usually because of the wattage/output that the frequencies are set at. I can hear the Jacksonville First Coast Public Safety system at times where I live it just depends on my location. But I can't hear the Jacksonville Beach Public Safety at all unless I am in Jacksonville Beach itself. If I am in downtown Keystone Heights I can hear everything I have in my radio then some, we are 55 miles from Jacksonville and can still hear everything like it was nothing. But at my house I am fighting to find a good location for my scanner at times. Atmosphere has a lot to do with it too. If it is raining outside at times that could give you better reception. Other times the sun being out will help. But maybe the Palmetto 800 changed something. I know in south and north carolina there is alot of hills and mountains so it just could be terrain. If this don't help you shoot me, LOL.

Supposedly a Richland County simulcast subystem (like the one in Lexington County) was to be completed by the end of this month. Check out the data channels of the other cells in Richland County and see if any are unusually strong downtown.

I can still picked up some Talk Groups like SC DJJ and USC maintenance but not any of the major agencies like Columbia PD & FD.

They have definitely changed something. I can do a search and picked up the Columbia PD P25 on frequencies that are not listed in the database for the Palmetto Center, I just don't know how to find the control channels.

Anyone know how to find the control channels? I'm using a Uniden BC796D.

Ok, I figured out how to search for control channels, just haven't hit any yet.

Harbison 860.4875, 860.4375
Killian 868.5375, 868.0375
Eastover 860.8625, 860.2375
In the database, red frequencies are control channels and blue ones are alternate control channels.

When you listen to the CC of Palmetto Center (860.3375) is there any activity on it at all?

The Killian CC are now broadcasting the majority of Palmetto Center Talk Groups. At least the ones I listen to. Thanks a lot, you kept me from going into withdrawal symptoms this weekend. Got to know what's going on.

To answer your question. Yes, on the Palmetto Center CC I was picking up a few, USC maintenance, SC DJJ in some ambulance company and some other ones.

I'll have to run trunker on it when I get the opportunity (which will be a while). If anyone else in the area can run trunker and get us all of the active voice frequencies, that'd be awesome. I'm interested to find out if there are other cells that have been combined. Looking at the licenses, I have a feeling that Eastover may be part of the simulcast as well.

I can't run Trunker but I have been doing some ID searching using the Killian CC and I have picked new talk groups all the way from Chester/Fairfield to Calhoun/Orangeburg Highway Patrol. So they are definitely working on a simulcast that covers a big area.

i will check on the notes when i get a chance/back at work, but they were working on the killian site and had it down for a bit then setup differenty from about the 15th of this month till the end of this month, they were even suppose to have the palmetto tower down for a 1/2 hour one day this month as well, lot of work going on with the palm 800 systems these days...

I have been monitoring the Palmetto, and the Killian cells in my usual closed mode, and have heard nothing for two days! I have all Cola pd and Rich cnty. Sherriff, all SCHP. In open mode I'm hearing utility etc.
I have been using Pro 96 for over a year, no problems!
I'm receiving the controls at 99% !
I'm getting Aiken PD, SCHP, on Lexington cel.
What is going on?

My mistake, Duh. I somehow had locked out Killian site.( 868.53750 )
Seem to be getting all Cola PD, Richland County, SCHP, etc. Nothing on Palmetto though...?
The conrol for Palmetto is 860.33750 @ 99%
I am also noticing a high pitched (sort of ) "whine" Some kind of interference on Killian control

Even the transmissions are crappy, since our Channel 1 doesnt work off the Palmetto Center any more - the dispatcher's new favorite code is 10-9

I'm having trouble finding Spartanburg County 800, any help would be appreciated. I'm using my Radio Shack 2022, its old but it works!

For Spartanburg Co. use Cells 19 (Central), 36 (Southeast), 16 (Southwest), 17 (far North) or 18 (far East). Find the frequencies on the Palmetto 800 page in the radioreference.com database.

The PRO-2022 isn't a trunk-tracking radio, I don't believe, so you'll be listening to all traffic without knowing which talkgroup you're hearing. Omit the control channels in your programming.

Try control 860.2625 (Lexington) I am listening to both ch.A and B, (analog) as of this morning.Most here seems Aiken SD, and RCSD ch 1, and tg 17872 (Towns Dispatch).
860.3375 (Palmetto) has virtually no activity, 868.5375 (Killian) has all Cola PD, RCSD, etc. but no W Cola.
