The sites in the database is actually 77 the site called Columbia was removed by admin Brian as it was not being used for any voice comms but had an active control channels. I believed the control channel was 853.1125 .
Does anyone know the purpose of this site? It's been on the air for years. Is it for testing?

I've been trying to figure that out also . Ive heard some key ups on Motorola talkgroups on the site last year but never heard any voice. It could be a site Motorola set up just for them.

That list contains both primary and alternate control channels. Stand-alone ASRs typically have 2 control channels provisioned and simulcasts have 4. Pal8 puts out a list of 128 and 250 control channels to accommodate radios that have different CC capacities. Last I checked the system was supposed to come out to around 80 or so sites so 76 ID'd out of 80 isn't bad when they're still building the system out.
Thanks for that info i am currently monitoring a few sites i can receive in the Irmo area that are standalone and some frequencies marked as alternate are indeed used for voice and only have 2 control channels. Im going to try to analyze as many sites as i can before i make a submission.

So let me see if I can understand what you're saying, Noah. You received a copy of a control channel list from a Palmetto 800 radio. And it has a certain number of frequencies, so you're trying to correlate frequencies to sites?

As trumpetman indicated, that list ideally contains all active control and alternate control channels for all sites in the system, but not in any particular order. And the number of frequencies contained in the list is based on the memory capacity in the radio, which varies from model to model. So it's possible that some active CCs or ACs have been omitted to make the list "fit" into the radio. It's also possible that some frequencies are duplicated among two or more sites in the state - an alternate CC in Beaufort County might be reused on a site in Marlboro, for example. And there may be frequencies included in the list for sites that haven't come online yet. So, I'm not sure how you'll successfully match up all frequencies to sites and reach some conclusion about "missing sites."

Scanners offer no way to identify frequencies used as alternate CCs. The only way that information is determined is to monitor with one of control channel decoding applications. Pro96Com, Unitrunker and DSD+ are the most popular, but there are others. Not only will these programs show you frequency information, but they log talkgroup activity and show things like affiliations and de-affiliations, neighbor sites, and so forth. This is the type of tool I and others use to determine much of the data that's contained in the database regarding sites.

Maybe post information you're considering posting to the forum before you submit to the database.

I understand that it doesn't mean there are 128 sites I was just saying I got a list and wanted to share it. Also on my submission I do verify the info before I submit. The talkgroups I submitted have been verified from an actual radio as indicated from my submission.

I do see how my post is confusing. I meant to put maybe all the remaining sites control channels are in the list not 52 sites. obviously i dont think SC would build/need 128 sites.

Your list would be a lot more useful if it specified which control channel(s) were used by each site. If you have read access to a programmed radio, that should be easy.

The radio did not have the list of site aliases complete filled out. All the list had were the Charleston county sites as that is where the radio is from.

I just spoke to the guy i bought the xts5000 from he let me read another one he had and it had the same list. I was able to some what identify a missing site in the Charleston area. All the info i have is the site id is RFSS:1 (1) and a Site ID: 66 (42) or 65 (41). I believe the site is called Andrews and located in the middle of Georgetown and Williamsburg counties. Any frequency or license info is unknown.

I was just in the Grand Strand area recently, and I passed through Andrews on my way. Although the Georgetown County Simulcast site (1-22) doesn't appear to have a sub-site in Andrews, which is on the west edge of Georgetown County, the site covers very well there and I was able to monitor the site with my mobile set-up pretty far into Williamsburg County. It is certainly true that one can find some areas of fringe coverage in the rural areas of Williamsburg County.

Also, here's the neighbor list for the Georgetown County site as reported by DSD+:

Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.6 ; Berkeley County Simulcast
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.8 ; Moncks Corner
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.21 ; Florence County Simulcast
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.47 ; Russellville
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.53 ; Conway
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.54 ; North Myrtle Beach
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.55 ; Kingstree
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.56 ; Brittons Neck
Neighbor: BEE00.1D9-1.58 ; Awendaw

So there's no Site 65 or 66 on the air yet that's tied to the system core. It's possible that this is a site planned for the future that will be installed as funding allows.

Performing a range search of FCC licenses within 4 miles of Andrews also does not reveal any likely Palmetto 800 licensees.
