Palmetto 800 V-folder ( Pro96 )

How well does the default v-folder on the Palmetto 800 TRS cover the Aiken , Chester, Fairfield, Lexington, Richland and York counties in SC?

They all have TG's listed in the Sub-Banks, Fairfield is listed as
Digital 56608
Digital 56952
in Sub-Bank 5.

I have Chester and York (and a few others) in one of my V-Scan folders for a trip across state rt. 9 last Oct.

Most of the control channel frequencies are listed, but you won't have any way of knowing which one you're listening to with the alpha-tags. That might not be a concern of yours.

The SCHP channel numbers are all wrong, and the alpha-tags leave a lot to be desired.

I don't see any Chester Co or Richland Co. talkgroups programmed at all, nor any Columbia talkgroups.

So, if you're not picky, it might do an okay job with holes here and there. I wouldn't use any V-folders now because they're so dated, but then, I'm pretty picky.

I'm sorry that I don't really have any p96 files to share with you.

In V-Scanner folder 9, bank 8 there is a string of 22 TG's for RC in the V-folder.(low 52752, high 53456) Plus 21488 is also listed for Richland CO. Chester has 21392 listed. Mark did not ask about Columbia, so I didn't comment.

In the Pro96 and 2096 are 10 Virtual Scanner Folders which hold 10 new banks each of data which may be easily accessed by the user, thus providing 5500 freqs and 16500 TG's. In addition, a scratchpad exist in Virtual Scanner also which will allow an additional 500 freqs and 1500 TG's.

The scanner comes with these folders already programmed, and are representative of metro areas and statewide trunking systems across the country.

Most users replace these with folders of data which they will use, Ie, I have folders for routes down the east coast from VA to FL.

Unfortunately, RC in this v-folder refers to Richmond Co., GA., also a user of Palmetto 800. Their 52xxx and 53xxx series of talkgroups were converted to a 2xxxx series about a year ago (see the news items on the Palmetto 800 page). There are no talkgroups included in the V-folder for Richland Co, which are mostly in the 16xxx range.

Columbia is located in Richland Co., which the original poster asked about. Columbia FD provides fire service for the entire County of Richland. I assumed that the original poster would be interested in fire service for Richland Co.

The talkgroups listed for Chester (21392 and 21488) is actually used by the SCHP. Chester Co. SD uses at least 3 other digital talkgroups (58xxx) on the system, which I assumed the poster would also be interested in.

I did not assume that the original poster was only interested in monitoring the SCHP - he didn't specify such. I figured he might be interested in all users of Palmetto 800 for the counties he mentioned.

And based on the incompleteness of the talkgroups included with the V-folder, I concluded that the v-folder would not cover those counties so well.
