I was in the process of programming IH20 and ran across something I've never seen before. The RR DB showed Palo Pinto SO 148.025, channel 30. I did not see a license for this frequency. I was completely unaware that law enforcement used frequencies in this range. To me, this is rather weird.

It's not that unusual for places like that to ignore FCC rules, or for whoever takes care of their radios to do it.
148.025 is an Army MARS frequency. PPSO was illegally using it a long time ago as their private talkaround channel. Several years ago the county got professional help and licensed several new repeaters. I doubt that 148.025 is still used but I have no way to confirm it. Back before the DPS went digital the Mineral Wells area troopers had an unlicensed channel they called "Floydada" on 155.91 I think it was. I quit hearing that about the time they switched to P25.

What a great response. I used to hear about various LE agencies in this state finding odd frequencies to use, sometimes city channels, etc. I am aware that the Federal folks do this, but I've never seen this in the RR DB. I also recall that various LE agencies used to jack around with radar too.
