As of April 30th, Palos Park Police Department will be dispatched by Cook County and is leaving Southwest Central. From what I read, they'll be using talk group CK (Cook) Metro West which I'm assuming they will be joining other departments and encrypted.

Still hearing them on 470.8625 and 472.600 for now, but why switch from SWCD knowing multiple agencies in the area are dispatched by them?

Good question, but probably politics again involved. I'm sure SWCD will be will be joining Starcom in the near future, so not sure what's the hurry. Takes effect April 30th.

County is offering contract dispatch at a much lower price than many other consolidated dispatch centers. This is especially true when agencies, particularly smaller ones, are faced with the costs associated with the cost of radio upgrades and software upgrades to meet mandates associated with the T-Band takeback and NG911.
