Watching "Inside Combat Rescue" on National Geographic reminds me that while we focus here on our domestic emergency response folks, the folks who rescue our wounded soldiers while often under fire themselves, deserve a HUGE SHOUT-OUT!!!! It's all so similar to the process used here on 911. As a veteran myself (GO NAVY) I have the utmost respect for those who protect us and our freedom.

By the looks of the antenna's on their radios, I would definitely say they were VHF Lo Band!

Toward the end of the show, they extracted a medic who got hit by a IED. They almost didn't want to leave the ER. While working as a Paramedic, we lost one of our own, I know how they felt.

I have been watching "Combat Rescue" with great intensity, as I crewed the C-130's that can refuel
the HH-60's. We also had the "PJ's aboard on the Herk's for long range rescues. 21 years Air Force. I also have the utmost respect for those who protect us and our Freedom!

Glad to see that others are enjoying the realism and intensity of this real-life story of heroes rescuing other heroes. B7spectra - I watched that very episode last night about the field medic who lost his right leg above the knee in an IED explosion. They got to him in time, administered a bone injection of blood to stop his demise, and got him to the battlefield OR in time to eventually save his life. You're right - the pararescue team didn't want to leave his side. GOD BLESS THEM ALL!! Anyone else notice how young these guys and gals are?

one of the shows , you could see a wall board with units/freqs on it. did not get close enought to really read it but looked like some 200 range freqs.
also the helo had 40.???? written on it (thinking it was a freq since there was not a second set of numbers,ie "map location"

i would expect most comms would be on low band and mid band. they are the normal ones used for infinatry / armour /etc

Pararescue is something like a 18 month pipeline. Plus they are dive qualified, basic airborne and HAHO &
HALO qualified. Where as in some specops units, they take the fun schools - dive, HALO......after becoming specops qualified. Pararescue and Combat Air Controllers are just now getting their just dues and
Recognizition. Its marketing among the branches. People whom can move and shoot,while deploying with SEALs, Army S.F., or Marine units. From.a sub, aircaft at various altitudes, or infiltrate by boat into a terrain of darkness. Complete the mission and exfiltrate.

Kudos to U.S Air Force Special Operations personnel.

Don't forget the Special Operations Weather Technicians (and Teams). The "Grey Berets" are part of USAF Special Operations Command alongside their PJ and CCT brothers.

In the TOC they have XTS5000's in a multi-bay charger and three PRC-117's below them. What's to the right of the charger I'm curious about. Usually the PA mic is on top of it.

I'm pretty sure these J's are carrying PRC-152s. I seem to remember seeing a green hand held in their kit/body armor.

It may have been a different service member they were interacting with but I'm pretty sure I saw a 148 in someone's pouch when they were out in the field. I wish I had one of those PRC-117Fs there on that rack!

'117Gs do a hell of a lot more.

Yes, roughly half the size of the F and runs off of a single BA5590 battery.
