On January 26, 2009 at approximately 12:23 a.m., Colorado State Troopers responded to a serious injury crash on Highway 83 (Parker Road) and east Mississippi Street in Arapahoe County. A blue 2005 Audi was southbound on Highway 83. The Audi was entering a right hand curve when it skidded out of control and into the northbound lanes. The Audi struck a green 1999 Honda Passport left rear side. The Audi went off the east side of the road rolling ½ roll onto its top. The Audi slid south on its top and struck two newspaper boxes, a retaining wall, and then a tree before coming to rest on its roof facing south. A brown 2007 Chevrolet Silverado ran over bricks from the retaining wall that had been thrown into the northbound lane by the Audi.

The restrained driver of the Audi has been identified as Dane Delveccio, age 25 of Denver, Colo. Delveccio sustained serious injuries and was transported via ambulance to Denver Health, where he was later pronounced dead by a medical physician.

The restrained driver of the Honda has been identified as Mary Gallagher, age 46 of Denver, Colo. Gallagher was transported via ambulance to Rose Medical Center in Denver with minor injuries.

The restrained driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as Sean Forrey, age 20 of Concord, Calif. Forrey sustained no injuries. The restrained passenger has been identified as Dustin Riley, age 20 of Oxward, Calif. Riley sustained no injuries.

The crash and subsequent investigation led to a closure of Highway 83 for approximately 5 hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

Alcohol or drugs are NOT suspected as contributing factors.

However exceeding safe speed for current conditions is suspected as a contributing factor.

At the time of crash roads were wet with icy spots.

Next of kin have been notified
