• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all.

I recently created an account with Motorola and I am looking to purchase a subscription for the downloadable version of the TRBO CPS. Specifically the 2.0 version. I was wondering if anyone knows the difference between the two part numbers/descriptions below that are showing in my catalog:

HKVN4362A - SOFTWARE,TRBO CPS DOWNLOAD - CURRENT VERSION
HKVN4622A - MOTOTRBO RM-CPS2.0 DOWNLOAD

I am assuming that the first one is for the pre-2.0 (v16) CPS, but I would like to make sure before I accidentally plunk down $170 on the wrong software package. I have been doing some research and I have found nothing on the second part number (HKVN4662A)... I'm sure someone with more Moto knowledge than myself can explain.

Thanks in advance.

HKVN4362A Is the latest version of CPS which would be CPS2.0 anyway. Not sure what version it's up to.
HKVN4622A Is TRBO Radio Management. Used by companies that manage multiple radios at one time. Makes it easier to program them amongst other features.

No matter what you won't be able to but R16 from Motorola anymore. And if you are going to buy the HKVN4362A package just know that you will get CPS2.0
EDIT: In case I wasn't clear, do not buy the Radio Management. As someone that is only going to program a few radios, you will not be able to use it.

Thank you for the response, that makes sense to me now: I couldnt figure out what the 'RM' stands for...

And if memory serves correct, the minimum firmware required for CPS 2.0 is 2.10? If so, is it possilbe to program TRBO radios with older firmware (ex 2.09)?

Received the HKVN4362A download today. Turns out Motorola included CPS 16 (Build 828) with the CPS 2.0 files in the package. I guess I got more than I bargained for... lol
