It's been a beautiful day in Detroit, so I was rambling around in the rafters of my garage and found part of what I believe was a 2 meter antenna. (well, a VHF antenna I used for 2 meters anyway). Referencing the attached pictures, the piece I found was 78" long. The coil is 15 1/4" long. I'm 95% sure this was an Antenna Specialist antenna.

I'm wondering if someone knows the model number, manufacturer if I got it wrong, and what the bottom or missing piece looks like. I can't believe I threw it away, I can't believe I threw anything away.

Just wondering what entails making the antenna complete. Was there another coil on the bottom? Obviously there was a connector on the bottom, and I'm gonna guess it was a SO-238, I'm pretty sure the only N-type's I have had are fiberglass antennas.

Thanks

Hmmmm... Could it possibly be part of a CB antenna?

Found it

Thanks for the reply, but after looking around a bit, I found it on the net.
Antenna Specialist ASPA2011 VHF 130-144 Mhz.
Everything in the left picture is what I'm missing. The bottom half, the radials and the mounting hardware.
I'm very confused, I never throw anything away, especially half of an antenna.

Interesting! Maybe you could contact AS and see if you can obtain the missing parts!!

I think the highlighted text means another trip to the attic. I know its easy for me to make a hasty grab thinking I have all the parts or tools I need. Seldom is the case.:(

Maybe

Or the wife said..'He will never miss this...'

If it was a little longer, I wouldn't be surprised if she used it to stake something up in the garden. That has actually happened. She used a radial for an Antron-99 to stake up a pepper plant. I had already put the antenna up in the air without the radial kit, so I really couldn't complain.

I have the UHF version of that antenna with 3 grey plastic things along its length. I believe the grey thing is just a 1/4 wavelength sleeve connected at the top and floating at the bottom. Or it could be a 1/4 wavelength of loading coil used as a phase reversing line between elements. Mine also has the same mounting plate and very short versions of the same ground radials.
