• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Can anyone recommend a locol radio shop that will reprogram my UHF 16-chan Motorola HT1000? I'm using it basically as a GMRS unit, and would like to rearrange the channels and tones to better suit my needs.

I've heard the horror stories about Motorola RSS, and have decided that if I can spend a little money locally, it's proably well worth the expense.

Any recommendations on a shop would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Try Wilmers communication on Mayo Rd in Edgewater of Commtronics on Rosler Rd in Glen Burnie. I think they might be able to program it.

I am in the final stages of acquiring a VHF HT1000. I have the same question, but wonder if anyone knows of a closer location to program the radio.
I live near Lexington Park - but I am willing to travel to get it programmed.

Southern MD Communication in Waldorf. I think they are still in business.

2910 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20601

The other choice is Teltronic in Beltsville, but I think Edgewater might be a bit closer for you. Come striaght up Rte 2.

HT software should be pretty cheap nowadays, probably less than 200 to get everything you need......
