Next month I will be in Pasadena MD for about two weeks. I will be bringing BCD536HP scanner with me.
I would appreciate suggestions from the LOCALS on what I can expect to hear. Local Police/Fire, Anne Arundel Co sheriff Dept, and MD State Police. I will only be using the antennas I can attach directly to the scanner. I went to Radio Reference to view what was listed but feel locals will be able to tell me what I can expect to be active. Thank You so much for your time. Have a great day.

The Anne Arundel County system is very active - fire/ems, police, public works.... very little encryption in use... However, there is an increasing amount of mobile data terminal and other non-voice solutions in use but you'll still hear plenty without issue:

The Maryland FiRST system is the system for monitoring the State Police and other state activity - some encryption... the bigger issue for this system is the nasty simulcast and it being P25 Phase 2. You may find it difficult to listen to the local simulcast site (or not - there is a tower right there in Pasadena).

Depending upon your actual location in Pasadena, you may also be able to listen to other sites of FiRST as well as Baltimore City and County (more nasty simulcast) - always busy.

There is lots of DMR and NXDN in the area as well.... may or may not be interesting - depending on what you want to hear.

Just using the stick that comes with the scanner, hearing Baltimore city or county is going to be challenging, if not outright not possible. Baltimore city is almost certainly out of range. Annapolis - the state capitol - is also on the AA system, so that should be easy.

BWI airport is also an easy catch; the freqs are already in our database. And you will almost certainly be able to hear a little military air, too - the 360.7 frequency is practically non stop and always loud. The db has the milair a/d freqs for BWI as well. Just be aware that they're not used all the time. And if memory serves, MSP Glen Burnie/Annapolis has a talkgroup or two on the AA system as well (yep, I just checked - one analog, one digital)

Anne Arundel County System is nearly constant with activity.

FiRST (Statewide System) is an interesting system to listen too. I live in Pasadena. I can receive the Baltimore Metro Site better than I can receive the Anne Arundel Site. Depending upon your local in Pasadena, if you are near the bay you can usually receive Kent Site and Queen Anne's Site. Both have a lot of activity too.
