I am absolutely stoked. I got 1 wrong, which was better than I was doing on the practice exams. ARRL book came in handy. :)

They offered me the General test too, and I missed passing by 6 questions, and that was with absolutely zero studying. I'd rather pass it by understanding the theory behind the questions anyway rather than get lucky.

Now I get to stalk the FCC site waiting for my call sign to be posted.

Whilst I'm waiting, I did a search for Clubs around Chester County, PA, and other than the ARES/RACES guys couldn't find one actually in Chester County. If someone can provide some guidance on a good club in the area (I'm Southern Chester County, about a stones throw from Hockessin, DE) I'd appreciate it.

Congratulations! Welcome to the club.

It is sounding as if you may have to join a "virtual club", such as here at Radio Reference or eHam.net for awhile.

You may want to inquire with the ARES/RACES guys that you mentioned as well. I have been involved with ARES for some time and can recommend it as one of your ham activities, but it may not be your cuppa tea.

At the least those folks should be able to find you a club.

I intend on getting with the AREA/RACES guys once I'm a little more set up, buy my rig, etc etc.

I'm looking for that guiding hand for the noob. :)

Congratulations!! I got the same score on my Technician exam.

You're your way to Extra!! Learn well and prosper (paraphrasing Mr. Spock a little).

Ok, it'll be 2 weeks on Sunday since I took the test, and the FCC database is lacking my call sign.

How long should I be patient until I call Washington and tell them to stop wasting my taxpayer dollars and issue my license?

How did the VE's send in your paperwork? Mail or digital? Did they forget to send them in? Try checking with them and see what they say.

Why, it was only a month!

;-)

LOL In this day of instant gratification, a month is a lifetime.

That said, the VEs who gave me the test were mortified to hear of the delay and worked to figure out what was going on, so props to them!

Aww you new hams make me smile! This is one of the few times I get to sound like an old man, "back in my day" (1994) we didn't have the internet or ULS. I passed my test in October of 1994 and my license wasn't granted until January of 1995. I had to wait 3 months to get the paper license in the mail before I could get on the air. Talk about a very long 3 months! Ahh, the good ole days lol.

Anywho, congrats on getting your call. Now get on the air and have some fun! :)
