I am paired and scanning with the RS-R30A remote control app. But how do I pass the received audio so I can hear it on my phone?

You don’t. Your phone only controls the R30.

You have to pair up a BT audio device to get audio.

Really smart move on Icom’s part. Extremely stable app because it allows multiple BT connections at once vs shoehorning everything into one connection.

Leaving the audio independent from my phone allows a world of flexibility including taking a call while everything continues on in the background. I can pop out an earbud, take my call, and still monitor everything in my other ear.

**Edit - I’ll add that at some level, Icom probably thought of passing audio to a phone directly but someone probably pointed out that the app was designed for use in the field, not at home. Why have the audio play out of your phone if you’re at an airshow? Look at the attached link PDF for control app

It even shows how everything is routed.

Ahhh, that's right! I do remember that now. And thanks for the brochure - didn't even know they had one for the app. Much appreciated.
