Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

HI all,

I have experience and somewhat success in monitoring a relatively quiet Connect Plus system locally by using passive method and would like to know if I can do the same with a NXDN48 Trunking System on a NX5300 radio. For example, this is how I set up my XPR7550 radio:

Group List
Group Call ID 1
Group Call ID 2
Group Call ID 3

f1 slot 1
f1 slot 2
f2 slot 1
f2 slot 2
f3 slot 1
f3 slot 2

auto scan enabled on all six frequencies so whenever any Group Call IDs matches the Group List, the radio will pass audio.

Thanks in advance.

If it is a true Kenwood NexEdge system, then no.

NexEdge systems tag the packets with a bit that says it's from a trunked system. Unless the radio is properly programmed as a trunking subscriber -AND- the radio is activated in the system by the system administrator, it will not work. It will not decode audio.

An Icom radio may or may not do it. I've never tried. I've heard rumors about it working, but never confirmed myself.
A scanner is your best bet.
