Someone mentioned the co-op effort between Denver and Lakewood yesterday morning. I was following the traffic when Lakewood decided to patch to Denver channel 4. (District 4?)

How do you monitor these patches? Is there a specific TG on either system?

Depends which agencies are involved often 460.425 is used or 00-001, 00-002, 00-003 on the Denver system or other agencies will normally stay on there primary (like Jeffco 1401) and that will be patched in.

Yeah ... I know they use CLEER frequently. But in the case of yesterday's incident, they went to a straight patch. Not really sure how they do it since both systems are independent of the state DTRS system. Are these patches broadcast via point-to-point T1 between agencies? Or some other mechanism?

(Once again I ask you to ignore my newbie ignorance)

There is life in Colorado besides DTRS. M/A-COM systems can talk to one another too.

Denver's patch talkgroup is 00-003.
Denver Districts 1-6 talkgroups are... 04-021(Dist 1), 04-041(Dist 2), 04-061(Dist 3), 00-081(Dist 4), 00-101(Dist 5), 00-121(Dist 6).

Denver's communication center has access to Lakewood's radio system and CLEER and can patch the 2 systems together using the patch channel thus enabling all Denver units and all Lakewood units including their respective dispatcher's to communicate together.

Uhhhh ... thanks Rick?
Yes, I realize that there are systems outside the DTRS or I wouldn't have said that Lakewood and Devner operated outside the DTRS.

Do you have any useful info for me?

Actually Denver has 6 patch tg's. I have even heard the DEA & Denver on a patch ( exact transmission on DEA UHF freq ). Normally, but not always patch one is DIA FD, patch two is FERN. The DEA patch was on 2! The talk groups are / 1-2-3-4-5-6 / 00-001 - 00-002 etc.....................

Patch channels 4, 5, & 6 aren't reserved for anything special are they ? More or less at the dispatchers discression ??
