PATCHES??

So can anyone explain how patching works? I hear tpd say stand by while we patch with other sides of town during pursuits, on my spectras which the city programmed for me the transmissions stay the same but on my trunk trackers 30736(ude) becomes 30739, 31248(udn) becomes 31251, udsw 31024 becomes 31027, tcso 40976 becomes 40979? Also when an armed robbery goes out it comes across on id no. 31575?

Can anyone explain this?

I would guess they are doing a "Talk-Group Merge".
This is the trunked version of a console patch.
It puts both talk-groups on the same channel.

When Patches occur, ID's change. I don't remember by what denominator but I think it's 3 on some and 1 on others. I ran into this on my First Generation trunktracker BC895XLT. Newer radios are equipped to just follow the patch where First Gens wouldn't. I remember when a patch would occur my radio would go quite, If I went into search I would find them on the Plus 3 ID's (30736 +3 = 30739 And so on) until the patch was disabled. :lol:
Armed Robbery calls usually go out on all ID's in the general area.

wow..learned my something for the day. I always just followed them with my radio never tried with a scanner. Armed robberies/officer need help calls are supposed to get toned out to all talk groups for city and county.
It dont always happen.
