I heard that Paudling County is going to be switching to a p25 system by the end of the year. I believe it will be their own and they will not be joining Cobb, not sure of any more details but its what I heard. Also another county will be joining them possibly Gordon County. But Paulding is finally switching from MOTOTRBO to P25. I wonder if anyone could find a new FCC license for Paulding or will the be using their existing UHF frequencies for the P25 system. I will keep this thread updated with what more I learn.

Current database for Paulding shows City of Dallas, Southern Company, and a few State owned 7/800 frequencies, none for the county (yet) though...

Also surprising (to me at least, not sure of the inter governmental relationship) that they didn’t join Cobb RRS…

Sub-thread, I believe that Cobb County will be getting all new consoles for all agencies

The Dallas GA PD was just bragging on taking all his comms to LTE over Firstnet at a technology summit in San Diego CA the last week in June. Can anyone verify that he is actually doing all his comms on Firstnet? (At least HIS agency)

So is Dallas PD going to go on the p25 trunk system that they're building out? He discussed that it would cost 4 million dollars for him to build out a replacement for his coverage on the DMR system and that is why he want the firstnet.

The RFP response includes enough subscribers and consoles for all cities in Paulding. Whether or not Dallas chooses to remain on their isolated island and implement a gateway is unknown. Dallas is Dallas and Paulding is Paulding, as is common in Gawga, counties and cities are separate. Ask me how I know (hint: I care and feed for a 15 site system that the big city in the middle is NOT on and has their own).

It would make sense for Dallas to migrate to the county system once built out- but that is at least 18 months away. The ink is still dry on the paper at this point.
