Funny how they mention the current radio system "was from the 1980's" but the "new" radios shown are well past end of life and not supported.

"we have now upgraded to radios from the early 2000s"

I'm assuming this is some sort of error? Where did they get that XTS5000? Or does the video explain they bought the lot used from another agency who bought some also outdated APX models that are about to be discontinued as well?

Yeah I wouldn't call their DMR stuff "old" either.

OKWIN map looks like it would be little to be desired in the county.

I'm hearing law enforcement traffic on the Hominy tower with talk id of 519. Query of the database does not show an Oklahoma agency with that ID. Maybe this is the Pawnee County new system id.

I don't believe that's going to be anyone in Pawnee County. I just checked my list of unknown talkgroups I made when I was living in Oklahoma last year, I had it marked down as an investigative or talkaround talkgroup that I heard either on the Tulsa site or OKC site.

I have a feeling this is not going to be a super fast transition, seeing as there are no OKWIN sites in Pawnee County. I'd expect to see at least 1 site in Pawnee (especially since there's a big hole in coverage in the NW part of the county) and possible another somewhere in the southern part of the county to guarantee adequate coverage for portables. But I could be wrong. I've never been out that way to know if the Hominy, Silver City or Stillwater sites have good coverage or not in to Pawnee County. I would keep an eye on FCC license grants for either the state or county with 700/800 MHz frequencies and the service tag "YG".

I'll have to listen for more traffic and maybe get a clue as to what agency is on this talkgroup. If you were hearing it a year ago, I wonder why it's not on the database. I live on the peninsula at the east end of Pawnee County and hear the Hominy site just fine. I think it would cover Pawnee County very well.

There are several TGs in the 5xx range that are on the Creek county site that haven't been identified.

For what it is worth, I've drove down 412 a hand full of times since this thread has started and I haven't heard a peep on their DMR channel. They usually aren't the most busy, but usually I get some sort of traffic every time I drive down 412.

I couldn’t nail it down to what agency or area, that’s why I never submitted it. My guess was maybe OBN, Creek County or USMS. Sounded like surveillance most of the time, and sometimes talkaround. Never heard anything that had any specific cross streets that were specific to one particular city. If I did hear a set of cross streets, it seemed they always had results in other cities. “1st & Main” etc. is more common in Oklahoma than you might think😂

My concern would be coverage on the Northern part of the county. There’s a hole up there with no OKWIN sites out towards Ponca City.

That's true. I'm a ham radio operator and used to talk to someone in Pawnee from my location at the east end of the county. We occasionally had problems communicating because of his location. A tower west of Cleveland might work.

Well, their using something, somehow because they aren't on the DMR system anymore.

Still hearing LE traffic on talk id 519 with 800 MHz system. I hear them on the Hominy and Drumright towers. My BCD996P2 shows
UID 33143 for dispatch and I heard a mobile unit with UID 33150 this morning. The calls I'm hearing are in Pawnee County and sound typical of the county Sheriffs dept. heard on their previous DMR system. They walk like a duck and sound like a duck. What do you think? I think it could be Secret Squirrel.

I've been monitoring TG 519 as well on the Tulsa site. I'm pretty sure it's Pawnee SO. Was going to listen a little more. All the addresses and locations heard are in Pawnee county.

Drove down 412 today both ways with discovery set to the hominy site. Only OHP hits were captured. Still a lot to be desired with the OKWIN sites for Pawnee county for coverage.
