Anyone know why my laptop does't recognize my pcmcia port? My laptop is an old Toshiba Tecra 8100 running Windows xp pro with SP 3, my wifi adapter is a Dlink AirPlus Xtreme G.
Today I found that my PCMCIA adapter was for Windows 98 and that I needed to go into system/hardware/device manager and uninstall my two pcmcia ports. After uninstalling them I shut the computer off inserted my pcmcia card, started the computer up and the card was recognized. At this point I was able to connect to the web, everything was working fine until I shut the computer off and restarted it. After restarting the computer the wifi icon wouldn't popup. I have been unable to get hooked up to the web since the first time. I have gone over all of my previous step but no luck.
