PCR-1000 and USB adapter

Hey all,
I was thinking of getting a PCR-1000 but I do not have a serial port on my laptop.
I was wondering if anyone uses a USB to serial adapter with this unit, and how good does it work?

I have (Hawk something or other) it worked fine........there were some issues (over heating) but that more likely than not had nothing to do with the cable....

I use mine with a USB adapter. It is a no-name model I got from somewhere on the internet a couple of years ago. I'd give you a model number or something but there is no name on it and even on the installation CD there is no information. Some work and some don't as I understand. Just have to try one and see.

I use my PCR-1000 with a Inside Out Networks edgeport model 301-1002-08 i have no problem with it

I also use one I just bought from Dell. I can't find the box to give you the model # though. They had two, I got the cheaper variety, and it works fine, other than I have to put it into the same USB port that it was plugged into when I installed the software.
