I have a number of questions regarding power supplies/adapters for my PCR 1500, any info would be greatly appreciated.

1. The N. American version of the unit comes with the Icom AD-113A AC/DC transformer? Can a spare one be purchased anywhere?
2. Can a European 220v AC/DC transformer (AD-113A) be purchased anywhere?
3. I'm looking at purchasing a bench power supply for the shack, I've been looking at the Astron ss-18 as its dual 110/220 voltage and suited for travel as well. Its a fixed 13.8v supply. The PCR 1500 is rated at 12v +/-15%. 13.8v is the upper limit of this range. Would it be ok to run the PCR off the Astron supply? Would the receiver run a little hot?

As usual thanks in advance.

You can find some of what you're looking for here:
http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/widerxvr/1501ops.html

In addition to selling the AC adapter, they also sell a fused DC power cord (with that special plug) that you could attach to any power supply. If you wire your own, make sure you get the polarity correct! Regarding the 12VDC vs 13.8VDC, I think it would be fine, but you might want to inquire about that as well, to be sure.

Thanks SIG-INT. Good to know I can get a spare N. American adapter if needed. I've looked into sourcing a Euro one as well. Very hard to get. Ham Options in Taiwan and Thiecom in Germany both list them as an item for purchase but usually don't have them in stock.

I've already looked into getting that particular fused lead as I'm going to build a small 12v battery pack from some rechargeable Ni-Mh AA cells. It should give me about 2 hours of portable use.

I'm still not sure about running the unit on 13.8v though.

Maybe Rich Carlson will drop in and give you more info. He's very knowledgeable on these Icom receivers.
