Using the Remote Head I cannot find any setting to stop scanning when a busy frequency is found.
Using the 1500 on a PC the scanning can be made to stop until manually restarted. The Head unit does not seem to have that option. It just pauses for as long as the number of seconds delay that is set. This is not what I want.

Any ideas please?

usually the same button that start the scan will stop the scan also
If you're looking the resume feature this is something else.

In any case you can take a look here and Download the manual

Thanks for reply, however the Manual and a talk with Icom in the UK cannot help with what I consider to be a feature that is sadly missing. The fact that you have to press another button to stop scanning with the Head unit but not when using your PC is not very good. Imagine the scenario of driving in your vehicle and having to look down again to find and press a button is bad.

what you're looking for is at page 29.

Push [SET•LOCK] to enter set mode.

Push [SET•LOCK] or [S.MW•MW] several times until
“SCt” or “SCP” appears.

Rotate [DIAL] to set the desired timer:
• “SCP-2” : Scan pauses until the signal disappears and then resumes
2 sec. later.
• “SCt-15” : Scan pauses 15 sec. while receiving a signal.
• “SCt-10” : Scan pauses 10 sec. while receiving a signal.
• “SCt-5” : Scan pauses 5 sec. while receiving a signal.

I really appreciate your suggestions, however it does not help with the basic difference between using the Unit with a PC and when using just the Remote Head.

The key words are 'pause' and 'stop'. With the PC you can 'stop' scanning ad infinitum but with the Remote it will resume scanning whichever timer is chosen. There is no way , as far as I can work out, anyway to stop and not resume o its own accord.
