hello, hope somebody can help me:

i got my 2500 today and want to connect it to my mac running windows xp under parallels.
i installed the driver and got the message that the device is connected and ready to use..

then i started the software and the "port setting" window popped up, but it does not find the scanner...

i checked the driver and there i found that string "IC-PCR2500_2201168 COM=3" seems to me that this is what should show in the port settings window. but it doesn´t....

is there anybody who coulod give me a tip?

thanks in advance
uwe

Did you reboot after driver installation? Sometimes that helps the driver and the usb port connect properly. When I installed my setup on my pc, I had to reboot to get the usb sound to work properly, as well as other software like SWLog and TrunkPCR.. After the reboot everything worked smooth. Love this radio!!

Hi there,

I have having similar problems with m R1500 and my intel macbook running, both VMWare Fusion with Windows XP Pro SP2 and Parallels running Windows XP Pro SP2.

I have found these links: http://forum.parallels.com/thread5403.html and http://www.chromewalker.com/cw_six/?p=221.

I have tried the first, with no luck..which is due to not knowing exactly *what* the USB device is...

If anyone else has problems, or indeed, if the person who started this thread has fixed it, I'd really appreciate any help.

thanks

I've been trying to get the 2500 to play with my MacBook Pro and Parallels/XP for about a week now... without success. The Icom software won't allow me to use the comport for the 2500. In the comport selection box nothing is available and search does not work. HOWEVER, I know that the MacBook is releasing the 2500 to Parallels because I have been able to successfully run it with TrunkPCR. (Too bad Icom couldn't manage to let me tune above 867mhz and actually use it for the Minnesota ARMER system. Works fine tuning conventional channels.)

Hi Anvil,

Now, thats very interesting. I had not bothered trying the PCR1500 with any other software..(well actually yes I had, I tried it with Ham Radio Deluxe, but that only works with the PCR1000 :()

I will try it right now with VMWare Fusion..and see what happens.

If you are interested, here are my trials so far with VMWare fusion - it sounds like as if VMWare might be a little better than Parallels when it comes to USB devices:

hope that helps. please keep in touch as i am really hoping we can sort something out with this damned software.

Hello Bernard!

I'm listening to local police and fire now on TrunkPCR. Not Icom's fancy gui but works very well. I'm pretty sure it will tune a 1500.
The link is: http://members.cox.net/fiftyone.50/TrunkPcr/TrunkPcr.html

I'll keep you up to date on my progress with the Icom software. I have also been successful with a combination of Butel's ARC396, Serialclient and my Uniden BCD396T.

I am using a 2.2ghz MacBook Pro (LED), OS X 10.4.10, but do not have the latest build of Parallels. My IT guys are getting me 3.0 so that might make a difference.

Hi Anvil,

Excellent, well blow me down!

I have just got TrunkPCR tuning my PCR1500 just a minute ago. Excellent! I have spent the past 3 days after picking this pcr1500 up on a trip to the US trying to get it working with my mac..of course it runs perfectly on my partners win xp machine.

Now: tomorrow's project (its 1AM here and I am up too late) is to get this running with VMWare - VMWare is free, and (In my humble opinion) much better than Parallels...

I'll keep you up to date with how I get it running in VMWare...I am running a trial version of Parallels at the moment - Version 3 Build 4128 June 9th.

I am running a MacBook 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB Mac OS X 10.4.10 (8R2218).

Yes, indeed please do keep in touch...you can PM me if you get any more information, or keep this thread open.

thanks (and now time for bed)

Parallels won't work. It doesn't work with a lot of usb 2.0 devices that need low latency. Vmware fusion works very well for me though with icoms software, I haven't tried other software
