The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all

another long shot but........

I have inherited a job where the previous radio company has put BASIC encryption into a fleet of DP4400 radios.

I have managed to figure out the 3 digit code and can now program successfully any other additional DP radio needed for their fleet

However.......

what I really really wanna do is:

to migrate some PD7 radios into the fleet but I need to know is if there is a way / formula / table which will give a compatible encryption code
for the PD7 fleet to communicate correctly to the Motorolas

Encrypt for DP radios allows 1 - 255 as a code in the BASIC encryption section
Encrypt for PD radios allows 1 - 255 in the ' Key ID ' box but allows adjustment of the ' Key Value '

unless I am missing something the Motorola 1-255 basic code is NOT the same as the Hytera 1-255 Key ID

am i p*****ing in the wind or is there a way to work a code to match the DP4400s ?????

any advice would be very welcome

thanks in advance

I don't know about the basic encryption, as I have never used it. I have also never used a PD705 or a DP4400. ha ha! :D

However! I have successfully used 10-Character Encryption on a PD782G with Enhanced Encryption on a XPR7550e. They are both 40-bit and both compatible.

Basic privacy is proprietary to Motorola. I haven't seen any other radios be compatible with it. As mentioned though enhanced privacy/ARC4 is compatible with other vendors.

In my experience, Moto’s enhanced encryption is equal to Hytera’s basic encryption. At least that’s how I got my XPR6550 to talk to my PD782.

there is differences between Motorola and Hytera Basic Privacy
Motorola Basic privacy is fixed keys mapped to (1...255)
Hytera Basic Privacy is more complicated and using 10ch 32ch and 64ch and 1 to 255 key mapped to this values
user can define those keys (10ch, 32ch, 64ch)
then user can not communicate between Motorola and Hytera radio in BP
but in EP, both using RC4 algo then they can talk with together.
