A 3 alarm call came in this evening around 7:30 for 33 Hurontario St in mississauga.

Kitchen Fire.

I have to say, I don't know if they have changed over to the digital radio's yet, but the radios were breaking up so badly, the chief had to tell the captains/squad leaders to stay still while talking because the transmissions were breaking up so bad.

If this is a sign of the digital communications, we are in big trouble.

regards,

Jason

Yes i heard that as well as a hmm noise, i am guessing the antennas have alot of ice on them... But fire like Mike said are still on the old system. 100% on that one.

You guya know a great deal more about this stuff but all of Halton's communications on the new
system were garbled. Halton Hills Fire Service mentioned that the I guess.

Ice will cause an antenna's VSWR to rise dramatically and will also change the radiation pattern.

Things should improve as the ice melts however crashing ice from towers presents it's own set of problems.

I've got enough dents in my work truck to know how bad it can be.
