Peel Regional System going to failsoft

Just heard fire and police dispatchers advising that they are going into failsoft mode shortly and for units to revert to backup radios...then heard PRP tell units to switch to Channel five.

Does anyone have more info on how the system functions in failsoft?

I'm at work so I done't have access to Trunker or Treport to moniter what OSW are sent.

If they are giving them notice,maybe they are shutting the controller down for some maintenance,repairs or upgrades ?

I haven't been listening much,but all the fire channels seems to be working normally.

The trunked repeaters will operate as conventional repeaters with a beep every few seconds.

Each agency is assigned a specific repeater to use when the system goes down. By listening to each repeater, you should be able to figure out who goes where.

Normally each police division as well as each fire service would get at least one failsoft channel. Works, buses, etc will probably be forced to share a single repeater.
