Makes some sense, the "guards" all have newer looking analog trunking radios, and I'm sure they don't want the expense of buying new ones. (Don't know how well, they are working for them, but they were quiet the days I was there).

On second thought, maybe not, the pending application is or UHF 460.xxx MHz and they are using MECA old, I wonder what they have planed for the new system.

19 miles, yes sound like it. That is one heavy RF zone downtown. I used the coordinates to run an FCC database search, lots of radios in that square mile block.

This is a part of or add on to there old system they will have mostly Maintenance and house keeping electricians and so on plus ticket staff on there new MECA Digital SYS 2 is not to good in some locations with in building covrage the Public Safty Side will still be with MECA Who knows if it will be new or old right now there is a lot up in the air look for a lot of changes coming up.

there was a bid for 120 HT-1250LS portables back in December, the Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium (ICCLOS) also had an RFQ for the repeater equipment but dropped it.

I asked about the fixed equipment last week and was told it was a service and didn't require bidding, I guess they decided not to buy their own stuff and rent airtime, but since they are applying for licenses it sounds like they might change their minds again.

They might have slipped that in under the building budget or something to do with the communications setup so they can broadcast games. With all the other stuff, whats one or two repeaters.

Sounds like a new system will be coming on line soon.
