Hey Everyone,
I struck up a conversation with a few Pennsville, NJ police officers who said they are moving to a digital system soon. They said they've been testing out portable radios.

Has anyone by chance out there heard they are indeed going to be making the transition from their current 500mhz system to 800 digital? If so, would they just be utilizing NJSP's system or the new NJICS system.

Thanks!

I have no knowledge but doubt move is to NJSP 800. Likely move is to 700Mhz NJICS. Over in Cumberland county, Millville and Bridgeton police moved to NJICS. Both encrypted. Occasionally I hear NJSP troop A 4comm units affiliate with NJICS too.

Within next few years all police comms in both counties will likely be encrypted on 700 MHz system like our neighbors in Gloucester county.

I honestly wouldn't expect there are any plans for the neighboring agencies. I'm not sure what Pennsville's motivation is to move off of the county's analog UHF frequencies that they currently share with Carney's Point and Penns Grove. That said, I expect those two are staying where they are. Salem City has their own repeater with their own channel already, so I don't see them moving either.
