I dunno if PA is truly happy with their M/A-Com system or not, but either way, it seems like they're trying to kiss a little a$$. They might need to be on the defense, even launching an offensive PR campaign, since so many other public safety agencies seem to be having issues with M/A-Com/Tyco.

That story is incorrect. M/A-Com failed to meet their contractual obligations, so NY pulled out per the terms of said contract.

I agree with the a$$ kissing part. I was talking with two PSP troopers (aka system end-users) who were not too happy with OpenSky.

well, word from people in the loop is NY cant afford it, so they are trying to make it look like M/A-Com defaulted on the contract, when in fact the system meet the contract requirements...

but we could argue back and forth, nobody will ever really know officially because thats just how politics work ;)

You will never know? How about reading the offical documents where Tyco Toys wireless (their newest name) could NEVER meet the specs they agreed to for the NYS system. They can't install the PA system let alone take on NYS and make it work. When Tyco Toys I should say if they ever get PA finished it will be time for a new system. There has already been talk about an uplift by Tyco. The specs for the system are there. Either you make it or you don't. Obviouslly I an not a Tyco fan but I can't help it seeing their work. Everywhere they have installed the sky is falling system there has been tremendous problems. The networked system in Florida does not work properly.

You can't compare Florida's system with PA or NY as they are totally different technologies.
I'm not say'ing that the SLERS system is perfect, as it does have coverage issues in the center of the state, but it does work properly in the areas that it does have good coverage.

Don't know what loop you are accessing. I have friends who are connected with OFT. The system failed acceptance testing - at least twice. The documentation is available online for anyone to inspect.
