• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

You really need to either make up your own handle, or earn a handle on the air. My handle is Sneaky P. and my grandfather gave it to me when I was 4 or 5 and I took a ride in his truck. I am sometimes monitoring the CB when I travel and I'm close to Dover. Let me know what times and channel when you're in the area and I'll look for you.

Pick it or let someone pick it for you.

I was named Redfox my my friend because it was a play on the red squadron from Star Wars.
It was given to me because I'm a bit of a Sci Fi fanatic.

My friends handle is BigDaddy, because hes a big guy and we gave him his handle when his wife was
pregnant with his first child.

My friend named himself RyeMaster, because he likes to drink. I just told him most people will probably
think he is a farmer.

Another friend of mines handle is Snow Fox, because I told her once that she was cute like a snow fox when
we were visiting the local zoo.

My Ex girlfriends handle is Sarkles, because she always wore sparkly makup.

We very rarely use our handles anymore.

Use your imagination.

I though handles were for opening doors and carrying things. Pick what ever for a handle, really doesn't matter.

855602, sometimes a cb handle is not all that necessary. use your initials or call number. similar to your log in name here on this site. for instance, Number 602 in New Jersey.

Would make it something meaningful to you (or then again, completely nonsensical depending on your taste). My man was known as Doc Weasel for years - no reason, just appealed to him....

that is very cool, that was my Dad's second Drag Boat. His name is Fred Odena, perhaps you bought it from him? I think Vic Watson did the painting.
