Perry County UHF Frequencies

I was looking it the RadioReference Database and I see that there is a countywide Fire Frequency and a Fireground Frequency. They are listed as RM. I was just wondering if they are still in use these and if I would pickup unit transmissions if I put this frequency in my scanner.

Jeffrey, The best thing I would say is to put it in and see if you hear anything. I have a friend who is a dispatcher and, based on what he told me about activity on all of the frequencies in the RR database, I only have the VHF frequencies programmed. Apparently MANY if the licensed frequencies are really not used.

I know that the Police channels 2 and 3 are really never used. Dispatch, traffic stops, driver's license information, registration information, etc. is all done on channel 1.

I asked him if he knew what the "operations" channel listed is for and his answer was "no clue". Not sure if he was holding back on me or not. I hear traffic from time to time, but it is normally static-filled and I only hear it when I am out and about in the area of 11&15 near Perdix, Duncannon, etc. We have really not had a major nearby incident since I have been seriously back in the hobby, so I don't know about activity on fire 2 and 3 channels.

I have 46.200 and 46.300 in my base scanner and hear them pretty good. I just wanted to see if I'd pickup any unit traffic on the UHF Frequencies. Guess I'll give it a try! Thanks dmg1969!

Do you also have 46.06? That's Perry County Fire channel 2, but you will also hear Cumberland County since that is their old Fire 1 dispatch channel and they still patch it to the OpenSky system.

Yes I do. Juniata Fire 1 is also that...Until April 1st anyway.(as I stated in your Juniata Dispatch thread)
