As mentioned in the SWLing.com blog and World of Radio (undoubtedly elsewhere too), Peru's bicentennial is July 29. This is a fairly tough country to hear, but there are a few stations that have been reported in the past weeks. Expect extended schedules and programming not just in Spanish but in other Andean languages such as Quechua. These frequencies are nominal; they can and sometimes do drift...
  • 4775 R Tarma
  • 4752 R Huanta 2000
  • 5025 R Quillabamba (if Cuba isn't there)
  • 6174 R Tawantinsuyo

28 de Julio is the big holiday every year and many "cajas de cerveza" will get drained. They have a very impressive military parade "Desfile Militar", which can be seen via internet on the TV Peru site, the government station, among others. Interesting weaponry, and even commandos in ghillie suits with crossbows, supressed weapons, etc.

They have some Quechua programming and perhaps Aymara as well.

Peruvians must fly a Peruvian National Flag outside their homes on 28 de Julio or face a fine.
