I used the Radio Shack software to program PG county Project 25 into my Pro-197. Selected the sites and talk groups but not hearing any transmissions. Did I not do something right or does my scanner not pick up their transmissions ?

Thanks in advance.. Terrance !

From what I understand, you need a PSR800 to monitor the PG system. So far, that is the only scanner made that will decode that system. I'd sell you mine, if I wasn't on the other side of the country....

That's right - you can, on occasion, catch someone (usually a fire unit) on the trunk system that will run FDMA (and therefore copyable on all the current P25 capable trunktrackers), but for the most part, only the PSR 800 will copy this system in X2-TDMA

I *think* the PRO-18 is the poor man's PSR-800 - it has less capabilities than the 800 does - but it would be nice to know if it can copy the X2-TDMA system, but no one has reported this yet.

PG County Sites

OK maybe off topic a lil but.. here we go.
I live in st. Marys county and I'm trying to set up a live fire feed for PG county, I look on the site and it says that there are to trunked sites both consist of multiple towers site one has 20+ frequencies and site two only has 5 frequencies according to the RR database as of today. I was trying to aim my 700mhz yagi antenna toward the site on Aquasco road this is the furthest south site to my location. Is this site going to receive all fire ems audio? Doesn't seem to be enough frequencies compared to site one. I'm not very familiar with these multiple site jobs and certinally not this x2-tdma stuff. Last time I heard of tdma was when I had a Cingular cell phone. Please someone help...

For PGFD: Assuning you can receive anything at all from your location (and you'll need a PSR800 for most all activity) -- you should receive everything on 8A1 (dispatch) and 8A2 (routine responses) for the entire county as these are common talkgroups on both the north and south zones of hte system. There are a few other "common" talkgroups (8B3 and 8B4, etc.). However for box alarms, you'll only receive the southern zone activity (8Cx) for the most part. The south talkgroups are not received in the north zone and the north talkgroups are not received in the south zone.

Police seems to be a little different but I don't listen to PD so can't really help you there.

Psr-800

Yes I purchased a PSR-800 just for the live fire feed purpose... Looks like i will be going back to the drawling board a little. Might Have to Host a South County Fire Feed and Hope Someone else Sets up a north county fire feed. I might have a connection at a PG fire House if they can provide a room to lock the equipment in I have everything ready to go, Computer, Cable Router With Fail Safe 4G backup and and the PSR-800.

Can you PM me the info on the talk-group arrangements i.e. Difference between 8Cx and 8Bx and so on and so forth. It would be greatly appreciated. There isnt much info other then they are an "Incident Ch" on the RR database.

Best Regards, Brian

Whew, I thought I was the only one getting hits on this frequency :) Mr. Mike - I live in Upper Marlboro near the courthouse, and - I'm getting more hits than before PGPD J/K sector went digital.
I get LOTS of hits on PGPD F & A - and this is on a PRO-197.

495.08750 is still hot.

Very interesting - this pretty well seems to say that the 490 mhz system plug did NOT get pulled as advertised (at least for the cops), or it was reactivated for some reason.

Have any of the other channels come back? Once this is plotted out, it can be put back into the database...let's see if some of the PSR800 folks can plot which of the old freqs are rebroadcasting what talkgroup(s), which would be valuable information to have...best regards...Mike

I found the police freqs on freeweb - normally I wouldn't trust it, but since they haven't changed for years, prior to the switch, this is probably still accurate. The items in bold target the freqs awal identified as still on the air
