What is the purpose of the dispatcher having units switch to different channels after giving out the assignments? i.e.: Respond on Channel "?"...

Thanks.

Thank you MDS4682,

Thanks, it makes perfect sense. Now I can reprogram my Bearcat BC245XLT channels to be in line with their frequencies. Where is the dividing line for north and south dispatching?

Central Ave "divides" the county north and south usually but the dispatchers generally go by if the first due company is north or south of central. Also fireground ch 9 is generally for the 6th battalion (Co's 10,11,14,31,35,41 and 49). Fireground ch 10 is generally for the 4th battalion (1, 7, 9, 12, 13, 34, 44 and 55). Of course if there is a lot going on then all of this will change..........
